The Linked Annex · Malahide, County Dublin
Malahide linked annex
The project
A two-zone linked annex connected to the main house by a glazed link. The working room faces the garden; the sleep room opens to a private courtyard on the east side.
The site
The owners wanted a planning route that avoided a full application. The glazed link to the main house qualified the structure as an extension, bringing it under the exempted development threshold.
The outcome
Permitted as a residential extension. The glazed link reads as architecture rather than connector — it became the feature the owners are most pleased with.
